About this place
Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge spans more than 140,000 acres of coastal dunes, saltwater marshes, brackish estuaries, and pine flatwoods. Co-located with NASA's Kennedy Space Center, it's one of the most biodiverse refuges in the U.S. — home to alligators, manatees, sea turtles, bobcats, and over 330 species of birds. Visitors can explore Black Point Wildlife Drive, hike multiple trails, and stop at the Visitor Information Center for exhibits and ranger-led programs.
